New, New, New!!!
Recently there have been some new developments with the property that we have
purchased on the Eastside of Madison.
Year End Summary
Our fiscal year ended on July 31st. Thank you for your generous
giving to the Lord at Holy Cross. We were able to meet all of our expenses,
taking into account that we received $4,529.00 in a special offering and $14,000
was transferred from Undesignated Memorials.
All Boards Meeting
Thurs., August 16th at 6:30pm
Holy Cross is organized under 5 Boards: School Board, Board of Stewardship
and Finance, Board of Trustees, Board of Elders and Board of Membership
Development. All board members should attend the meeting where we organize our
work around this year’s theme ‘Press on Toward the Goal’.
Confirmation Meeting
Sunday, August 26 at 9:15am
Parents of 7th and 8th grade confirmation students
should plan to attend a meeting in the gym. At that meeting we’ll hand out class
schedules and materials and talk about class expectations. During confirmation
class our students learn the pure teachings of scripture through a study of
Luther’s small catechism.
All Circles Meeting
Thursday, August 23rd at 7pm
At the beginning of each new fiscal year all the circle groups gather
together to plan out the upcoming year. This meeting is helpful to schedule
coffee hours and soup suppers, and plan Bible studies for the year.
*** Handbell Choir and Senior Choir begin on Wednesday, August 29th at 6:00pm and 7:00pm. All are welcome! ***
LYA Convention
The 2007 LYA Convention in Mankato, MN at Bethany Lutheran College was
awesome. The theme "Ceaseless Praise" was a part of the whole weekends’
activities. In our Devotions and Bible Studies, we focused on Christian
Vocation. Friday, we went to Valley Fair, a local amusement park. And Saturday,
we recorded ‘Commercials for God’ and went to the Lake Crystal Recreational
Center.
Our youth love the bus ride and are already talking about next year’s LYA Convention.
Come and see the LYA pictures displayed on the window in the narthex.
If you are going into 8th grade or are in High School make plans to attend next year’s LYA convention at Texas Lutheran near San Antonio, TX!

Thank You
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Holy Cross Rummage Sale.
Together we raised over $2,000 for our school! At the end of the sale, Thoughts
of Faith was able to collect a load of items that will be sent to Ukraine. Items
included baby, toddler and children’s clothing.
Again thanks for all the volunteer hours to help make this sale a success.
School Begins…
Monday, August 27th will be the official opening of the school
year. The day begins at 8:00am with a chapel service and closes at 11:20am.
After School Care starts on the 2nd day of school.
Sunday School Begins Sunday, Sept. 9th
The distinctive purpose of Sunday School is to teach children God’s plan of
salvation using the historical portions of the Old Testament and New Testament.
Knowing the development of God’s plan of salvation is vital for future teaching
in catechism, Youth Spiritual Growth and Adult Spiritual Growth. The Sunday
School shares a responsibility with parents to train and guide children in the
way they should go according to God’s Word.
As we prepare for another year of Sunday School what can you do to help? First of all you can pray. Pray that God will give our Sunday School teachers wisdom and guidance. God has encouraged us to ask for His blessings and has promised to hear our prayers. Knowing that the members of the congregation are behind them and praying for them and that the Sunday School teachers may do their work with confidence.
When a child comes to Sunday School, they come to meet their Savior. If you have a child in pre-school – 8th please send them to Sunday School to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn the way of salvation He won for us!
Sisters in Christ
Sisters in Christ want to welcome ALL our Holy Cross women and guests to
BRING THE BIBLE TO LIFE! Join us, as your schedule allows, in the Library every
1st & 3rd Tuesday starting Sept. 4, 6:30-8:00 pm.
Please call D’Ann Halleen 222-0181, and let her know if you would like for her to order FAITH LESSONS ON THE PROMISED LAND -PARTICIPANT’S GUIDE by Ray Vander Laan, Zondervan.
Because God speaks to us through the Scriptures, studying them is a rewarding experience.
Ever wonder what it means to "sit in the gate?" What about seeing where David fought Goliath? The Faith Lessons video series and participants guide makes all of those wonderful stories in the Bible come to life by seeing where they took place. It helps increase understanding by learning cultural and societal issues related to geography.
Focus on the Family’s, Ray Vander Laan takes us across the seas to where it all took place…
