Installation of Mr. Schubkegel!
S
unday, August 24 at 10 am
What a festive day it will be to install Mr. Timothy Schubkegel as Principal of Holy Cross Lutheran School! I hope many or our members and school students are able to come for this special worship service as we place Mr. Schubkegel into office, as we entrust his work in to the Lord’s hands, and as we hear Mr. Schubkegel take his vows before God and the congregation. Martin Luther once said, "A diligent and pious schoolmaster who faithfully trains and teaches children can never be sufficiently rewarded and repaid with any money… We can dispense with mayors, princes and noblemen; you cannot dispense with schools, for the children must grow up to rule the world someday. If I were not a preacher, I do not know of any position on earth that I would rather have than that of schoolmaster."

Fiscal Year is Ending
T
his Sunday, July 27, is the last Sunday of our fiscal year. With that in mind, here’s some information from the Board for Stewardship and Finance:

Dear Holy Cross Member,
The Board of Stewardship and Finance has committed to keeping the congregation up to date on our financial status. We are sending out this note to do just that.

As we all know times are a little harder right now and we see this in our daily lives. As we finish the fiscal year here at Holy Cross we are once again in a little bit of a pinch financially. Everyone involved has worked to trim costs and we have seen some very positive results thus far. We have adopted a sound, frugal budget for the next fiscal year. However, we are projecting to end the year with a $30,000 shortfall. We are making every effort to resolve this shortfall and anything you can give would be appreciated.

You may recall in April David Griffin made a presentation after each service to communicate our current and future financial position with the congregation. One slide in particular discussed the giving trends of the church members. We would again ask all to prayerfully consider your giving habits and evaluate your ability to increase your giving by as little as $1-5 per week. If ½ of the church giving members were to do this we would realize an increase of between $14,000 and $72,000 annually. Needless to say this would go a long way in keeping our progress going.

God has blessed us all in so many ways. We are grateful for his gifts and especially the gift of our Savior!

Thank you,
Board of Stewardship & Finance.
