Mother’s Day
S
unday, May 11
W
e honor our mothers, thank God for them and pray for them, especially on Mother’s Day. Whether your mother is here or in heaven, come and honor the spiritual influence she has had in your life. What better way is there to show your love to your mom than to sit with her in the pew and gather your hearts as one in your Savior. Psalm 127:1 says, "Unless the Lord builds the house its builders build in vain." May our homes be built upon the solid Rock of Christ and His Word!

God’s Summer Plans
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing…" (Hebrew 10:25).

"Summer time and livin' is easy" the old song goes. Warm weather, vacations, no school, golf , fishing, hiking, swimming, relaxing, less hectic schedules…all seem to define summer time. Thankfully our Lord never takes a vacation from blessing us with His abundant love, gracious gifts, and providential care. The Psalmist writes about our Heavenly Father, "He who watches over Israel will neither slumber or sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand." (Psalm 121:4-5). The Lord’s care is ongoing. He never tires of caring for us.

Summer presents God’s people with many opportunities to be good stewards of His manifold gifts. We care for the wonderful world He has given us when we are outdoors. We treasure the important relationships we enjoy as we spend time with loved ones. There is temptation during the summer months to overlook the most precious of all our Lord’s gifts, His holy Word and Sacraments offered in worship. In the more relaxed atmosphere of summer living, we may be tempted to take more lightly the spiritual aspect of our lives.

In response to our Lord for His grace and mercy, may we place Him first in all our summer plans and activities, allowing adequate time for worship, Bible reading, meditation, and prayer. May we be good stewards of God’s rich blessings!

If you’ll be out of town traveling, contact the church office for a list of ELS and WELS churches in the area where you’re headed!
