Advent by Candlelight
Sat., December 6th at 6:30pm
Prepare your heart for the Advent season by attending this year’s Advent by
Candlelight. The Naomi Circle will be hosting an evening of fellowship and
dessert for the women of Holy Cross (18 and older) and their women family and
friends. Sign up on the office window or call Becky Collyard at 592-1846. Hurry
as the seats fill up quickly! The deadline is November 23 and there is no cost
to attend. We hope you will join us in celebration for Jesus’ birth!
Christmas Dinner
Sun., December 7th at 11:30am
Support the High School Youth of Holy Cross by attending the Christmas
dinner. The dinner is one of the ways that the youth raise money for the
National Lutheran Youth Association Convention in Seattle, WA next summer.
Sign up on the sheet in the Narthex.
Note this was a success last year. The dinner used to be on a Sunday night at 6:00pm. It has been moved to earlier in the day, after the second service, so that people can worship and go downstairs and eat and also not have to worry about driving at night.
Sunday School
The songs and recitations for the Sunday School Christmas Service have been
handed out to the students from their teachers. Attendance at Sunday School is
important this time of year to practice those recitations and songs together as
a group. Rehearsal for the Sunday School Christmas Service will be on
Saturday Dec. 13th & 20th from 9:30am – 11:00am.
Greg Bartels
Open Gym Volunteer
The past 6 years Holy Cross has had an open gym on Saturday mornings from
10:00am-noon. The dates are during the colder months of the year. If you’re
interested in supervising open gym sessions for the 4th-8th
grade Holy Cross students, please contact Pastor Tweit at btweit@yahoo.com or
249-3101. You can also call with any questions you have.
Craft and Bake Sale
This year the Bazaar raised about $3,000.00. All proceeds were given back to
the Ladies Groups and will be used to provide Holy Cross church and school with
many wonderful things that go over and above our budget. Thank you to all who
helped to make this a success!
Young Adults 18-25
The Board for Membership Development has recently organized a special
subcommittee that will focus on young adults after they graduate from high
school. It has been observed that young people in this age group tend to become
very busy and/or go away to school and sometimes may need more encouragement and
support from their own church. The Young Adult Committee was formed to be that
support and encouragement. This committee is being asked to stay in touch with
these young people as they go out to create a life for themselves, encouraging
them through emails or regular mail that they have the support of their home
congregation. This committee will remind them of special church services when
they might be home or on break from school. This committee will send requested
mail such as our newsletter or bulletins keeping them informed of the things
happening at Holy Cross. This committee will plan special events, particular to
this age group when they are home during breaks or summer vacation. This
committee will also encourage others in this age group to participate in church
activities or groups and finally they will be someone who will welcome these
young adults when they attend church functions or services. This committee wants
to also be their spiritual support in times of need.
To do all of this the Young Adult Committee needs the support and help of the parents. Knowing how to stay in touch is the key to the success of this committee. Having a current phone number, mailing address or e-mail address will be important to what this committee has planned. After November 18th, the committee members will be calling the parents of these young people for information on how to contact their son or daughter. Please help them out with a phone number or mailing address. If you would like to contact the church office prior to these calls being made, you will save the committee some work making these calls.
Thank you for your help in this endeavor and God Bless the work this committee is doing.
Thanks
The family of Roger Silbaugh would like to thank Reverends Bartels and Tweit,
and other members of the congregation for their comfort and support during
Roger’s illness and funeral. God Bless.

Holy Cross is blessed with many dedicated members and each year we honor a
