Organizations & Small Groups
- Choir: The Bible says, "Serve the Lord with gladness;
come before Him with joyful songs." All confirmed members are welcome.
Practice is on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm. The choir sings about three times/month,
alternating between the first and second services.
- Bell Choir: Meets on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00 pm, and helps to
beautify our worship services periodically throughout the year.
- Greeters: Church families are assigned one Sunday/year to greet people
on their way in to worship services.
- Altar Guild: Helps beautify our worship by decorating the altar on a
weekly basis; coordinates the set-up for the Lord's Supper.
- Ushers: We have a number of teams to help with our Sunday worship
services.
- Open Volleyball: Meets in the gymnasium every Monday during the school
year from 7:00-9:00 pm, for fun, co-ed, non-league volleyball for all ages.
- Quilters: Meets in the cafeteria on the third Monday of each month at
9:30 am.
- Church League Basketball: The Church League Basketball meets Sunday
afternoons at Holy Cross and Eastside Lutheran between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm beginning in
January and ending in March.
- Open Basketball: Open Basketball meets Saturday mornings from
8:00-10:00am from October through March.
- Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL):
Meets at church for various service projects and social events. Watch church announcements
for meeting dates and times.
- Bethany Women's Auxiliary: Supports Bethany College through monetary
gifts and various activities such as attendance at Bethany Women's Auxiliary Day in
September.
- Counters: Teams are assigned to count our offerings and make deposits.
- House of Thrift Volunteers: Work at the House of Thrift filling
shelves, cleaning, cashiering, or checking in merchandise. Proceeds help support Bethesda
Lutheran Home for the Mentally Retarded.
- Sponsors: Help to make new members become integrated into the Holy
Cross congregation by introducing them to church members, making them aware of church
events, and maintaining contact with them.
- Support Group: Meets in the Senior Pastor's office on the last Monday
of the month at 10:00 am. Members in the process of grieving or in the midst of other life
crises need Christian friends to listen and to bear one another's burdens.
- Prayer Chain: Prays for members of our congregation as needs arise.
Prayer requests are received by telephone and relayed to individuals on a phone tree.
- Ladies Aid: Meets in the cafeteria on the first Thursday of the month
at 1:00 pm. Meetings consist of dessert, pastor-led Bible study, and a business meeting.
- Esther Circle: Meets in the homes of various members on the second
Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm. Meetings consist of dessert, Bible study, and a business
meeting.
- Lydia Circle: Meets in the homes of various members on the first
Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm. Meetings consist of dessert, Bible study, and a business
meeting.
- Miriam and Moses Circle: Meets in the cafeteria on the 2nd and 4th
Thursdays of the month at 12:30 pm. Meetings consist of a meal, pastor-led Bible study,
and a business meeting. Men, women, singles, and couples are welcome.
- Ruth Circle: Usually meets in the homes of various members on the
second Friday of the month at noon. Meetings consist of a meal or dessert, Bible study,
and a business meeting.
- Families in Fellowship: Meets periodically for social and service
activities that involve the entire family.
Parent-Teachers Organization (PTO): Meets periodically during the
school year. We welcome and encourage our parents to have input into what goes on at our
school.
