Visiting, tuition, financial aid

Visiting our school
At Holy Cross, we know the love of a parent for a child is profound … and we know the love of Jesus toward the children is even deeper. Here at Holy Cross, children daily learn the love of Jesus from a Christian staff dedicated to doing what is best for your children. If you are interested in taking a tour of Holy Cross or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Phone Jenny Patten at (608) 249-3101 or drop her an E-mail (jpatten@holycrossmadison.org).

Financial aid

The Holy Cross school board recognizes that not all families have the means to afford a private education and seeks to help them financially while still remembering our duty as good stewards of the gifts provided by the congregation to operate the school. When funds are available, Holy Cross Lutheran School provides financial aid to families in need to enable as many students as possible to hear the Word of God in our school through the financial aid program.

Financial aid program guidelines
  • When funds are available, the school board will work with a fixed amount to distribute among those eligible, and in the order of preference listed below.
  • All families applying for financial aid must submit a financial aid form (available upon request from the school office; E-mail jpatten@holycrossmadison.org) by April 30. No aid will be given without completion of the form. The only exception to this date is if extenuating family circumstances develop during the school year. Then a special request must be made to the school board.
  • Financial aid is determined on a year-by-year basis, and thus receiving aid in a prior year does not guarantee future requests will be granted.
  • All requests for financial aid may not be granted and/or meet the level of request.
  • Holy Cross uses FACTS Tuition Management to collect tuition and fees. Families have several options for tuition payment. All families that request financial aid must use the FACTS system.
  • All fee payments are the responsibility of the family. Tuition assistance will not cover fees. Fees must be paid in full prior to the August registration unless arrangements are made to include the fees as part of the monthly payments collected by the FACTS system.
  • Families with outstanding balances from the previous school year, and who have not made payment arrangements with the school board, are not eligible for financial aid.
  • First-year non-member families will receive a discount to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church member rate for the first year. No further financial aid will be allowed in the first year.
  • No financial aid will be given for the preschool.
Order of preference given for financial aid
  1. Member families of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
  2. Families without a church home.
  3. Other ELS or WELS members*.
  4. Members of other churches*.

* If a family from another Evangelical Lutheran Synod, Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod member, or another church body requests tuition assistance, a letter will be sent to the family's home church requesting assistance from that church prior to receiving financial aid from Holy Cross.
