The Holy Cross Lutheran School After School Care Program provides a safe and secure environment for children who are not able to be picked up at the close of their school day due to parent work schedules. This program is available to families with children enrolled in grades K-8 in our school. It is available every day on which school is in session, except a holiday weekend. It is not available for days on which school is not in session or on which school is canceled due to weather. Parents should sign their child or children up for after-school care each day/week/month. We require prepayment; overdue balances result in a loss of after-school care until balance becomes current.

After-school care policies
Cancellation policy Please inform the school office early in the day if your child will not be using a scheduled after-school care session to avoid being charged for after-school care. If your child is ill, please make sure that after-school care is also notified to avoid being charged. You can leave a message with the school secretary or on voicemail.
If your child is in an activity after school, you must marking it on the after-school calendar so our staff knows where to find your child, if necessary. This is for all sporting events. There is a fee of $5 per day for parents who sign their children up for after-school care and take them home after school without notifying the school office. It is very important to inform us of these changes. Discipline policy and rules As Christians, we strive to live lives that glorify and honor our gracious Lord and Savior for all that He has done for us. The students of Holy Cross Lutheran School will be encouraged to live lives that reflect God’s love for their classmates, teachers and families in response to God’s grace. Students who break school or classroom rules will be instructed to guide them to behavior that glorifies the Lord. Further action and/or consequences may be implemented. Openly defiant behavior toward teachers and staff, disregard for others’ safety or well-being or for our school's mission, harassment of any type and drug or alcohol use by students are grounds for suspension and/or termination of attendance at Holy Cross Lutheran School. Pick-up policy People who pick up children from the after-school care program should use the designated entry door (in the rear of the gym, located by the dumpsters). All other doors remain locked. Children are not permitted to open doors to allow entry into the school building. Parents need to make sure an after-school care worker sees them pick up their child. People other than the parent or legal guardian of the child may only pick up the child if the school has been notified prior to after school care that day or have them approved on the “approved pick-up list.” Toy policy All rules of Holy Cross Lutheran School are to be followed by children in after-school care. Students may bring a favorite game/toy from home to be used during free play. Games and toys must be labeled with the student’s name. Games and toys are not to be taken out during the regular school day. Students who do so will lose this after-school care privilege. Cell phones are not permitted. Any electronic device that has Internet capabilities also is not permitted. |
