Holy Cross Lutheran School provides many exciting opportunities for students of all ages.

Arts
Lakeside Lutheran Fine Arts Fair (Grades 5-8)
Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills hosts the Lakeside Fine Arts Fair. This program provides opportunities to students in grades 5-8 to demonstrate their God-given musical talents, competing with other schools. Participants include group choirs, solo vocalists, band ensembles, and instrumental solos.

Visual Arts Fair (Grades 5-8)
Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills also hosts the Lakeside Visual Arts Fair. The fair consists of an exhibit featuring student art projects, various art workshops, and critiquing. All students in grades 5-8 from area Lutheran elementary schools are eligible to participate. The purpose of the Visual Arts Fair is to:
  • Provide an opportunity for area students of Lutheran schools to use and display their God-given abilities in the area of visual arts.
  • Encourage and assist students in improving skills and knowledge in visual arts.
  • Give students, parents, and educators an opportunity to observe what other students are doing in visual arts.

In addition to the regular physical education classes, Holy Cross Lutheran School provides opportunities for both girls and boys to participate in extracurricular sports programs. Athletic code of conduct and eligibility
Parents and students are required to sign and return an athletic code of conduct pledge to the school before participation will be permitted. The athletic program at Holy Cross Lutheran School will:
  • Provide an opportunity for our athletes to use their God-given athletic talents to His glory
  • Provide training and a competition for our athletes in different team and individual sports
  • Provide Christian fellowship opportunities
Eligibility guidelines:
  • Our school’s promotion policy guidelines will be used to determine a student’s current eligibility for athletics. A student may regain eligibility when the guidelines of the promotion policy are met. Basically, a student should have grades acceptable to their God-given abilities, as judged by the teacher, and no incomplete work listed on SnapGrades. For students who are ill, the length of the absence indicates the time allotted to complete missing work.
  • Students who are under school disciplinary suspension are not eligible for participation in athletics at Holy Cross Lutheran School.
  • Students who are ill on game days will not be allowed to participate in the evening games.
  • For pre-excused absences on game day (funerals, etc.) the student will be allowed to participate in the games in the evening. Permission to participate must be received from the principal.
Camp Indianhead
For students ages 10-16, this Lutheran camp offers one week of summer fun, fellowship, activities, and Bible study in a camp setting with other area Evangelical Lutheran Synod churches.

Chess Club

Grades 3-8 are invited to tune their strategic and problem-solving skills by learning and practicing the challenging game of chess. Students participate in games against each other at this after school activity.

Music

Band, Strings, Piano
Holy Cross Lutheran School provides an opportunity for students in grades 5-8 (band) and grades 1-8 (strings) to receive instrumental music instruction. Piano lessons are also available during the school day. Details regarding these programs and their fees can be obtained by contacting the school office. The students perform in school concerts, including the Band and Bell Christmas Concert and the Spring Concert, and compete in the Lakeside Fine Arts Fair. They also play at athletic events and other activities.

Choir
Sing praises to the Lord! Students at Holy Cross Lutheran School participate in worship services at Holy Cross Lutheran Church by singing as an entire school or as groups of classrooms. All students participate in this activity. The students and teachers put in considerable practice time so that our musical offerings to the Lord are the best they can be.

Students in grades 5-8 also may participate in our school junior choir. This choir sings for worship services, community events, and the Lakeside Lutheran High School Fine Arts Fair.

Hand bells
The hand bell choir is a special musical group for students grades 5-8. These students play for the Wednesday morning chapel services, Sunday church services, and perform in school concerts throughout the year, including the Band and Bell Christmas concert and the Spring Concert.
