PURPOSE
The purpose of Holy Cross Lutheran School AfterSchool Care Program is to assist parents by providing a safe and secure environment for children who are not able to be picked up at the close of their school day due to parent work schedules.
AVAILABILITY
This program will be available to all families with children enrolled in our school. It will be available every day on which school is in session. It is not available for days on which school is not in session. It is not available on days which school is canceled due to weather. There is also BeforeSchool care for our afternoon PreK4 students.
FEES
Parents fill out a monthly calendar for after school care use. On the basis of that monthly calendar, fees are pre-paid before the first day of the month.
Drop-Ins [those families for whom no calendar has been received or who have not notified school of a change in calendar] will be assessed an additional charge.
Please inform the school office early in the day if your child will not be using a scheduled after school care session to avoid being charged. If school is not notified you will be charged on the basis of your monthly calendar.
If a child is absent from school or if there is an unavoidable change in plans for a particular day please let the school office know early in the day to avoid being charged for after school care. If school is not notified you will be charged on the basis of your monthly calendar.
PICK-UP POLICY
Persons picking up children from the ASC program should use the designated entry door
(courtyard door between the school and gym buildings). All other doors remain locked. Children are not permitted to open doors to allow entry into the school building.
The name of the person picking up the children from the ASC program should be listed on the monthly contract, or the school office should be notified. Children will not be released to anyone not on the ASC list. All students are picked up in the ASC room.
RULES
All rules of Holy Cross Lutheran School are to be followed by children in AfterSchool Care. Students may bring a favorite game/toy from home to be used during free play. Games/toys must be labeled with the student’s name. Games/toys are not to be taken out during the regular school day. Students who do so will lose this AfterSchool Care privilege.

SESSIONS
Two sessions of AfterSchool Care are offered. The first is intended for children in our Preschool and Kindergarten programs. It will begin after the morning Preschool and Kindergarten classes have been dismissed and will run until the end of the regular school day at 3:00 PM. The second session includes those students from the first session who need to remain as well as any student gr. 1-8. The second session begins at the end of the regular school day and will run until 5:30 PM. When the school calendar has a scheduled half-day, AfterSchool Care runs from 11:00 to 5:30. BeforeSchool Care for the afternoon PreK4 class will run from 8:30 to 12:30.
SNACKS
A snack will be provided to the children in both sessions. This is included in your fee payment.
WEATHER
In the event that school is closed on account of inclement weather, the ASC program will also be closed. Please listen to the radio. A listing of stations carrying this information can be found in our school’s policy and procedure handbook. Parents will be refunded or credited for these days.
