Salutatorian Speech by Allison Mahnke
"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"
This serves not only for the theme of this school year, but also for the theme of our daily lives. We live every day under the Lord’s watchful eye, he graciously gives us abundant blessings, and he protects us lovingly from the evil, prowling devil. Jesus Christ came to earth not to be served, but to serve us! Our grateful response is to serve him in all we say, think, and do - at home, in school, during church, and wherever we go.
Our seal explains this love and servitude to God. The house in the middle of the seal represents our serving attitude anywhere we are, whether at home or in the church. The wall surrounding the house signifies God’s almighty fortress that protects us. The heart shows the Lord’s saving love and blessings shining down on us, and the beams of light prove God’s immense power. The blue sky and green grass promise the eternal life we will soon receive when Jesus comes back on Judgment Day. The white words symbolize the Word of God shining through the dark and gloom of this world.
We all have talents and skills that the Lord has given to us. When we do everything to the best of our abilities, we are glorifying our Savior who loves us. Every day of our lives is a chance to praise and honor Him. We should live for Him today. We shouldn’t dwell in the past, nor the future, for tomorrow is already what God ordained it to be – another day for us to serve Him. As we move on, day after day, we must walk with the Lord until we reach our goal of heaven.
