Valedictorian Speech by Max Hoel
In all our years at Holy Cross we’ve learned many things. We’ve received an excellent academic education, and more importantly and excellent education in God’s Word. We’ve studied everything from fractions in 2nd grade to how to be a good steward with God’s help in 8th grade.
Mrs. Schoenherr and Mrs. Karrow taught us how to share.
Mrs. Poppe taught us how to work with others and introduced us to reading and writing.
Mrs. Becker laid the foundation for all of our learning. She taught us the basics of just about everything.
Mrs. Dashcund taught us cursive and fractions and how to use our imaginations while reading.
Mrs. Starkenburg laid the foundations of our writing skills.
Mrs. Ibeling taught us Language and spelling.
Mrs. Cleven taught us Spanish
Mrs. Krause developed our reading skills and helped us through many good books.
Mr. Rathje taught us physical science and strengthened our multiplication skills with times tables.
Mr. Ristow took us through a couple thousand years of world history and strengthened our faith with studies of specific books of the Bible.
All the teachers we have had have taught us so many things. Each of them has influenced us academically and more importantly, spiritually.
We will always be grateful for the instruction we received from all our teachers and our pastors in God’s Word.
We will always remember our in-depth studies of The Bible and Catechism with Mr. Ristow in 5th and 6th grade. We will be forever grateful for Pastor Bartels and Pastor Tweit’s confirmation classes which brought us into doctrinal unity with our fellow members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. All we have learned at Holy Cross will lead us forward into our careers and into our spiritual life.
Thanks to our teachers and pastors we declare, Joshua 24:15 "As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
