Seize the Moment. . .and the Remote
Myth #3: If we don’t like it, we can turn it off.
More than anything, we need to honestly admit that the media has the power to
shape us and our children. The fact is, we can insulate, but we cannot isolate
our family from the media and its influence. All of us, however, can begin to
fight that fact by making sure we are using God’s power to combat this enemy.
Using his Word to guide and encourage, we can give our children the confidence
to defy trends and identify deception.
Actually, we can turn it off- at least in some ways. And when we do, we accomplish a great deal. We have taken a stand. We have illustrated that sometimes it’s important to risk being independent for the sake of our convictions.
Now is the time
Solomon wrote of "a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and
a time to speak" (Ecclesiasties 3:7). Now is the time to speak against and tear
down some of the media’s power.
Do at least one thing this year to make a statement about your position on the media. Give voice to your values, not just in your family room, but in the more public areas of your life. Many national leaders, fighting the negative influences of the media, believe the worst thing that can happen is silence on the part of decent American people.
They are talking about us. Now is the time to speak.

Mission Project
The mission project for the second semester of this
