Picture this: Bedtime across America. Millions of parents tucking their children into bed. They read a book or two together. Prayers are whispered in the nighttime shadows. And little ones soon nod off, secure in their heavenly Father’s loving care.
Sound too good to be true? More than likely it is. The majority of America’s children probably go to sleep without reviewing the day’s blessings and without the comfort of knowing their sins have been forgiven. But, while the prayer lives of millions may be out of our immediate control, we are responsible for shaping our own children’s prayer habits.
So what’s happening in your household? Is praying part of your regular bedtime routine? Why is it so important to imprint prayer in the minds of young children as a way of lives? How can all Christian parents insure that their children will use God’s gift of prayer anytime, under any circumstance of life, and for any need?
