To Christian Parents
Kenneth Kremer
The Top Ten
5. Communicate with your child. Genuine communication begins with listening. Christian parents too often make the mistake of holding one-sided communication. Listening provides background and insight for parents to respond with wise words of their own to help a child deal with life’s difficult challenges.
6. Apply God’s law and his gospel message of forgiveness and healing as situations call for them. Luther saw this as a difficult thing to do. It requires that parents try to determine whether their child is repentant or not. (It’s difficult because we cannot look into a human heart. It’s possible because we can look for evidence, or signs, of repentance.) God’s law (the Ten Commandments) needs to be applied when a child is unable to admit a sin. A child’s conscience needs to feel the pinch of guilt if the gospel is to have any meaning at all. But when a child has recognized the sin and is sorry for having done wrong, a parent should talk about God’s love and forgiveness. This is the time to bring the comfort and peace of the gospel to a young sinner’s heart.
7. When admonition is in order, don’t shrink from it. When they catch their child in sinful behavior, godly parents need to exercise tough love. (The converse of this is also a good parenting principle to live by: Look for opportunities to catch your child behaving correctly.)
Mission Project
The mission project for the first semester of this school year is the ELS
mission effort to support Christian schools in the Amazon of Peru. The money
will be used to support our missionaries and teachers spreading the Gospel in
the cities and rainforests of Peru. Please set aside an offering for your child
to bring. This offering is collected during our weekly chapel services.

Are you a book fan and have some time to volunteer?
Volunteers are needed for our school library. Mrs. Wegenke will be "retiring"
from the library at the end of this school year and would like to train several
replacements. The library is open on Mondays from 10:45-11:45, Tuesdays from
1:00-3:00 and on Thursdays from 1:00-3:00. Please call the school office if
you’re able to help.

you believe your family may be eligible.
Before/After School Care
Remember that Before School Care begins at 7:30 for

grades wing door and report to the cafeteria.
Also remember that students still on campus at 3:20 are placed into After School Care.

Picture day is scheduled for Friday, September 28 with a retake date of
October 25.
Parking
Just a reminder for the safety of our school community
parents should not use the Milwaukee St. staff parking area to drop off or pick
up students. The Union St. parking lot is to be used for drop off and pick up.
When driving entering, exiting or just backing up in the parking area please
keep a watchful eye out for our students. Thanks!
