PTO Meeting Minutes - February 26, 2008

Absent: Amy Hoel, Lorraine Modjeska, Lavonne Dettmers, LaVon Hettich , Stewart McElroy, Kathy Thompson

The meeting opened with a prayer.

Principal’s Report:

Mrs. Marozick’s surgery is scheduled for March 4th. Mrs. Camille Bovee will serve as her long-term substitute.

Congregational offerings are low, so the budget is extremely tight and may need to be reworked.

Treasurer’s Report: balance of $10513.65 on hand.

Scrip Report: (Jenny Patten, Donna Ziegler, and Sherri Bartels) Profit this school year of $7458.02 with a net after repaying loan of $3875.02. Only 1 loan repayment remains and then Woodman’s proceeds will be all profit.

Business:

Suzi reported that the Thrivent match for items sold in the Craft and Bake Sale was higher than previously reported ($23.50). After resubmitting we received a match of $147.

Mr. Ristow requested no arrangements be made regarding his departure at the end of the year and also that no money or gifts be given to him.

Holiday Shower update: Response was amazing. The residents of the Elizabeth House were overwhelmed by the generosity shown. Suggested that next year, we do the Elizabeth House again around Christmas and do the Ronald McDonald house food drive later in the spring.

Spirit Wear, voted to have items ready for sale in the Fall.

Voted to use $50.00 out of teacher Christmas lunch remaining balance for the purchase of two scrip cards for an upcoming promotion to increase scrip usage.

Fundraising ~ Sherri Bartels and Amy Hoel

Wreath sale only netted $69.

Rummage Sale date tentatively set for July 18-19.

Also will run fliers for the March 30th event in the next 3 weeks of the News For You.

Non-Academic ~ Lorraine Modjeska

About 138 people attended the Kalahari on February 24th

Discussed optional payment methods for the Kalahari, Lorraine to discuss with Youth & Ed to finalize other solutions.

Promotional ~ Cindy Natvig

All School Open House is in April, fliers will be sent out.

An ad will be put in the Celebrations section of the Wisconsin State Journal congratulating Erich Wegenke on his Madison area Spelling Bee win.

Silent Auction ~ Suzi Tate

Due to the huge response of donations, the Silent Auction format will change. We will no longer do it as a sealed bid.

Sunday, March 30th, was chosen as the date for the auction and we will combine it with a potluck lunch, open gym for the kids, and cards for the adults in the fellowship hall.

Suzi will put pictures of some of the donated items in the case outside the Principal’s office.

Items will be available to bid on from 8:30 am to 2 pm. Bidding will close at 2 pm. The person with the highest bid on each items bidding sheet will be the winner and can claim their item when they pay for it at the end of the auction.

Suzi’s mom, Carol Radtke, will make a large batch of goulash and the rest of us will make a batch of chili to dump together to serve at the potluck.

Social Events ~ Kathy Thompson and Katie Tweit

Christmas luncheon went over great. Mr. Deering’s slushy machine was a huge hit.

Teacher Appreciation ~ Suzi Tate

Christmas Staff Lunch went well. Feedback was good.

Gift of Love receipts were low this year, only $670, PTO had to kick in $1870.

Administrative Professionals Day: Suzi will do baskets again for Linda, Jenny, and Teresa; cost will be kept to $100 total.

Yearbook ~ Lavonne Dettmers and Diane Krszjzaniek

Requesting that pictures for school events be brought in, they can be given to Jenny Patten.

Next meeting set for Tuesday, March 25th at 6:30pm.
