PTO Meeting Minutes - November 25, 2008

In attendance: Tim Schubkegel, Amy Hoel, Diane Krszjzaniek, Jenny Patten, Katie Tweit, Cindy Natvig, Lavon Hetich, and Suzi Radtke.

Suzi opened meeting with prayer.

Principals Report:

No response yet on classroom cleaning list from teachers.

Mentioned that various student groups would be providing musical entertainment for the Ladies Aid December meeting.

Mentioned writing article about our Veteran’s Day program for the Lutheran Sentinel, we will have to wait and see if it gets published.

Basketball is starting; we will have both Boys and Girls A and B teams this year.

Per notes from the latest School Board meeting, a committee is being formed to discuss the dress code and possibility of uniforms for the 2009-2010 school year.

Treasurers Report

Noted that money from the Youth and Education Committee will be coming in to help cover expenses from Fall Activities. We currently have $11,851.30 in our accounts. Scrip Balance is 9,651.22

New/Old Business

Library Shelving $500 was donated to pay for the shelves. Voted that PTO will pay difference of cost equal to $147.90. Shelves are up and look great.

Library Books Through donations, 30 new books have been purchased, 86 Accelerated Reader quizzes have been purchased for existing books, and an additional 11 quizzes have been purchased for new books. An updated list of desired books will be placed on the PTO bulletin board, as well as donation forms for purchasing them.

Name-the-Bear Library Contest was won by Rachel Hoel with her entry of "Bearnice". A pizza party was thrown for her class.

Holiday Shower for Elizabeth House Boxes for donations will be placed the classrooms on Monday, December 1st. Reminders will go out on PTO page in News for You. Extra gift lists will be on the PTO bulletin board.

Little Degas tickets so far there have been no silent bids put in for the 4 tickets. Voted to donate them to the Elizabeth House if no takers.

 

Committee Reports

Friday Lunchroom

Nothing to report.

Fundraising

Kraft Foods Recycling program discussed. Involves putting a bin in the cafeteria to collect juice pouches and cookie wrappers which are then turned into bags and other things.

Wreath sales will be available for pickup on 11/30. We sold about 136 wreaths.

Information

Asked to double budget need from $50 to $100. Also discussed possibility of using less paper by relying on the PTO bulletin board more.

New Families

Nothing to report.

Non-Academic

Rollerskating party went well, about 180 attended. Kalahari date is set for February 15. Cost will be $18 per person for church and school families, $20 per person for non-school/church families. Because of problems we had last year, we will ask people to prepay when they sign up.

Promotional

Christmas cards handmade by our school children are selling well.

Our Junior Choir will be singing at the State Capitol for their Veterans’ Day program on Nov. 11.

The Veteran’s Museum photo shoot went great. Cindy will receive pictures from it when they are ready.

Scrip

Thanks to those who have helped sell on Sunday mornings, need more volunteers. We have raised $4,538.60 so far this year. Bucky Books will be available for sale with Scrip.

Social Events

Veterans’ Day program went well. November Coffee Hour raised $92. Volunteers are needed to help serve and clean up the students’ Christmas lunch. Notes will need to go out in next couple of News for You issues.

Teacher Appreciation

Staff Christmas Lunch has 24 staff and spouses signed up to attend. Gift of Love has received $876 to this point.

Yearbook

3 pages have been completed.

Next Meeting to be Tuesday, January 27th at 6:30 p.m.
